We Know We Belong to the Land

I've spent the last few days visiting my family. I'm from a small town in Oklahoma where my parents raise quarter horses. Here are a few members of the herd. I wish I'd had a chance to draw all 37 of them.

  3. I, perhaps, may be the only one or among the very few who knows where that line came from! The sketches are lovely. Hope your time in Oklahoma was wonderful. I tell my husband (a Kansan) that Oklahoma could be a movie set. Still love the sunsets glowing on the red earth.

  4. Thanks, everyone!

When I fly back for a visit, I can always tell when the plane has made it over Oklahoma when I see the red dirt. It's so strikingly beautiful after being away. Now I'm thinking that I should pick up some reddish-brown ink the next time I go back...Hmmm.
